I agree. If the patient accepts death as a result of blood loss, it's her body and her decision, no matter how much it pains her physician. My partners and I once took over the care of a laboring patient from a doctor (covering for her partner who was away) who refused to care for a lesbian patient! It's one thing to say at the first visit "Gee, Ms. Jones, I just don't think I can care for a lesbian patient" and yet another to refuse to care for her during labor.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
