Doulas

I am involved in a NIH funded Doula study with John Kennell here at Baylor. I can testify to the honesty and integrity of this investigator.

John's previous study at Jefferson Davis Hospital here in Houston showed a marked reduction in the rate of cesarean section in the Doula arm as compared to controls. A similar study ion Cleveland in a provate population with family members in attendance for labor showed a similar reduction in the rate of operative delivery.

Maybe we should be opened minded about this concept.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
