laparoscopic ventrosuspension

I have been performing this procedure for more than a decade, and have had two "failures" in over 60 cases. The first was a "pilot error" in that I failed to pull up sufficient round ligament to correct the prolapse ( this was among the earliest cases performed) and the second was a partial prolapse recurrence, for unknown reasons. The vast majority of these patients have been under the continuing care of this practioner, and have not "fallen". I have recommended C-section for subsequent pregnancy, in order to lessen pelvic trauma and consequent decreased pelvic support. Two patients chose to deliver vaginally however, and their post-partum support was satisfactory. The optimal position of the round ligaments needs to be carefully determined with the abdomen deflated, as the distention of the abdominal wall can be misleading in selecting the ideal site for permanent ligament fixation.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
