Re: How much do obstetricians think they're worth?From: LMCNM@aol.comFri Jul 26 00:50:51 1996
I'm not sure that you understand that the CNM- certified nurse-midwife is a very educated professional that takes a different route than the physician. It is by no means a lesser educational program-- but rather a different program. I certainly don't have to learn to operate on a Circle of Willis Aneurism to provide care to a well woman. I am quite sure that a physicians coming out of medical school today is much less educated than you think. A doula is not a trained professional and should not be compared to a CNM. I believe that the best care is rendered to a population that allows for the use of both providers-- working together. For me it is far more important to provide good care than to struggle with issues relating to professional rivalry. Just my .02 cents. Lonnie Morris

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
