Re: Doula'sFrom: LMCNM@aol.comFri Jul 26 00:15:47 1996
It is that same narrow minded thinking that pushed me to start my birth center. As a CNM with a masters from Columbia University and a doctorate from Case Western Reserve I am far from the fringe--- yet I felt a need to distance myself from taking my entire practice to the hospital. In our BC we consider the doula as any lay perspn. Just as a father can help with the delivery--- so can the doula-- as a friend assisting the midwife or the doctor. I find the hospital administration short sighted at times and it disappoints me. Lonnie Morris

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
