Joe - We use terbutaline 0.25 mg sub-q acutely - repeat if still contracting 1/2 - 1 hour later and pulse < 100. We switch to 2.5 - 7.5 mg p.o. q4h for short term oral continuation. I don't like to give long term continuous oral terbutaline, because I don't think it works, but I will send patients home with some to take "prn" with contractions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Richard Lowensohn, M.D. | Developer of OB-Link ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dept of Ob/Gyn | Electronic Obstetrical Record ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oregon Health Sciences University | E-mail: lowensoh@ohsu.edu

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
