Re: Doula'sFrom: Anna Nickels (102476.2066@CompuServe.COM)Mon Jul 22 16:20:06 1996
I guess that I would ask the administrator if his "ruling" meant that fathers (S.O., etc.) are not allowed to be a part of the "4-hand catch" method either. Another question- wouldn't he rather have the patient come to the hospital to give birth with the lay midwife "assisting" than to have that patient stay home to deliver (risking potential problems)? (This is the ethical part of the questions.) And this is the business part of the questions-- wouldn't he rather reap the economic benefits of that patient using his facilities? <very big grin> just one nurse's 2 cents (and yes, I always took the Bradley method patients on my unit) :-) Anna Romig Nickels, RNC, BSN Washington, DC

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
