AFI = Amniotic fluid index, a measure of the amount of fluid around the baby. There are tables for normal values.

I am a little unclear about your use of Indomethacin. You say one of the contraindications to use is gestational age over 34 weeks (which I agree with for the stated reasons) however you go on to say you treat patients up to 37 weeks. Please explain.

yes, we use it in this conditions:

-When ritodrine and Nifedipine are contraindicated (as in Spain we rarely use the SO4Mg as a tocolytic, and usually we use betaadrenergics or Ca++ channels inhibitors) -before 26 weeks pregnancy when there aren't enough betamimetics receptors

our contraindications for indomethacin are: -More than 34 weeks pregnancy for avoiding premature closed ductus arteriosus -peptic ulcus - anormal coagulation - nephropathy - obviously if women is alregic to indomethacin

Attack dose: 100mg/12h rectal once you achieve uteroinhibition continue with 25mg/6h oral

Excuse me, i don't understand the abbreviation AFI, what does AFI mean? we don't use this abbreviation in Spanish.

untill 37 weeks if no contraindication >> How >> often do you obtain a fetal echo?

if patient is in Hospital we obtain echo weekly

I would appreciate a protocol is anyone >> has one. >>

That was our protocol in HUMI Vall d'Hebron in Barcelona.
