I use indomethacin sparingly, usually after MgSO4 and nifedipine have failed. I usually use 50 mg now, then 25 mg q4h, though I have doubled the dose. I limit its use to women <= 32 weeks and then for 48 hours. In those rare circumstances where I use it longer, (e.g. 25 weeks with recalcitrant preterm labor and polyhydramnios of unknown etiology), then I follow both AFI and ductal flow and ventricular function. (and my wife of almost 25 years is in great health, thank you) David David Nagey, M.D., Ph.D., FACOG - The Johns Hopkins Hospital

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
