Premature menopauseFrom: Bill Katz (katz@maine.com)Sun Jul 21 19:42:54 1996
July 21, 1996 Dear List Members: I find myself with four young women (under 40) with premature menopause manifest by amenorrhea and elevated FSH, all desirous of childbearing. Do any of you have references, protocols, or anecdotes relating to management or potential for childbearing. One of these women actually got pregnant after being treated with high dose estrogen by one of my colleagues (I sectioned her for a breech and found streak ovaries. Chromosomes were normal). My understanding is that estrogen by suppressing the elevated FSH may allow any residual follicles to ovulate, and that premature menopause may be a relative not absolute state. Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Bill katz@maine.com is:
