<what is your opinion (and practice) re: use of acyclovir in that should, of course, be non-immunocompromised. pregnant women for 1) primary HSV outbreak 2) recurrent HSV outbreak 3) prophylaxis to reduce chance of outbreak near term?> Elisabeth Hyde CNM Branford, CT >> We have been following guidelines from the Univ of WA (Zane Brown) re: Acyclovir at term for women with histories of frequent outbreaks., especially someone whose been diagnosed with a primary outbreak in pregnancy (we had two last year !!) So far good success in preventing outbreaks. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
