>The dosages may have been different, but uterine and fetal responses vary a Having seen tetany and prolonged decelerations with low doses of oxytocin, it does seem unwise to give it without some type of fetal monitoring. I can see the evil personal injury lawyers having a field day if their was a "bad outcome" using this regimen without monitoring. To quote a former professor of mine, William O'Brien: "Oxytocin is the most dangerous drug in Obstetrics". I suspect he was mostly talking about its use for unindicated inductions, but I think using it without monitoring also falls into this category. Ashley Hill D. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
