"The CDC guidelines in the U.S. state that vaginal culture alone is unsatisfactory and that both vaginal rectal cultures are required. We have a single device that has 2 swabs tied together. You put 1 in vagina and 1 in rectum at the same time and then put into the transport container."

in our experience we were comparing the results of taking the two both samples and the vaginal one, since we didn't find statistical differences, we left the rectal sample.
