Bornstein, M.D., FACOG I have used the Cabot Tripolar on several occasions, as have my partners. We are definitely dissatisfied with this instrument. It seemed to cut wider than the electrocautery achieved hemostasis. This has happened several times while using the instrument appropriately (the sales person was in the OR coaching along the way at my first use of the Tripolar). Also, this instrument is clearly built for a size 8 hand, not my 6Ê1/2. I doubt that this is gender-bias, but it certainly is a marketing oversight. I will not be using the existing Cabot Tripolar again.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
