It was not clear from your message whether or not you currently have http://www access. If you do, you can begin looking for information through the "search engines" such as AltaVista, Yahoo, Lycos, (these are the 3 I've found most accurate in accessing medical information) by 1) entering your search terms, then 2) following the links to the articles/pages/documents that are provided. This can be time-consuming and may or may not provide you with usable information.

Major Search Engines: http://altavista.digital.com/ http://lycos.cs.cmu.edu http://www.yahoo.com http://www.nlightn.com http://www.infoseek.com/

The following are a few of the sites specifically for medical information -- some are general, others ob-gyn -- but they are all good starting points for finding Web-based medical information:

http://www.medconnect.com:80/finalhtm/ http://www.cpmc.columbia.edu/list.html http://www.healthpartners.com/health.html http://www.bcm.tmc.edu/obgyn/obgyn-ce/ob-gyn.html http://www.bio.bris.ac.uk/research/bats/richard/Pregnancy/pregnancy.html

HOWEVER, If you do not currently have http://www access -- then that is a completely different situation -- and requires other steps to acquire an appropriate account.

As far as fees, subscriptions, registration etc. that depends on what you are looking for. Many of the Web resources can be accessed for no charge and documents "saved" or printed for your own personal use. If you are looking for more extensive research-oriented documents or documents you can use in compiling your book, that could be a more complex issue (regarding access, copyrights, permissions, etc., etc.). The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
