Re: Amnio infusion

We use amnioinfusion routinely for variable decels and for meconium if it is particulate or thick. I'm not near my references, but there are actually studies which seem to show a drop in the rate of endometritis in women given amnioinfusion, so the washout of bacteria may be another potential benefit. My understanding is that the only cases of rupture have been with machine infusion (IV pumps). We use gravity only. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Richard Lowensohn | E-mail: lowensoh@ohsu.edu ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Oregon Health Sciences University | Phone: (503) 494-7968 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ L466, 3181 SW Sam Jackson Park Road | Fax: (503) 494-5729 Portland Oregon 97219-3098 | <your message here>

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
