Health Care

I agree with many of the comments that are being made, and the discussion of health care and insurance companies just points up what a mess we are in. In WA we have a Basic Health plan and Healthy Options. Women are supposed to be able to choose their provider for maternity care, family planning and women's health care. However, that choice must be within a particular plan (makes sense for bookkeeping), which also then limits their providers and where they can give birth. Lately over the past year, ( I won't point fingers, ...) somehow folks are switched to their plans in the last months of pregnancy, and the woman needs to watch her coupon and call some folks and get things changed, or they miss the switch time to switch back. The consumers are just sent this information, and of course, it is not easy to read. Also, we need PCP referrals for some services, and then, of course, the woman can't find a PCP who will take her, or who is qualified, or then, they will refuse to see her, even though she is supposed to see them for a non-ob related problem. It is a mess right now. I vote with those who wish for a single payor system. Everyone is part of the pie, equally, and those that provide good services and good care will have no problem having a successful practice. The use of midlievels such as myself allows for more cost effective care and services. It seems to work in other countries, I would like to see it happen here.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
