If she has a total previa(Totally surrounding the cervical os, the fluid can't get out. Fluid is getting out, hence she does not have a TOTAL placenta previa regardless of multiple learned mens opinion. Placenta previa is not something that can be well diagnosed in the second trimester, especially at 20 weeks hence the term "migrating placenta. Placentas never "migrate" they are firmly attached to the wall of the uterus. Our interpretation of placental attachment site sometimes "migrates" but never the placenta. Fluid can not leak around a TOTAL placenta previa without causing severe hemorrahge. The placenta is firmly attached all the way around the cervix if it is a TOTAL placenta previa. I have a picture I would like to show. If I can get it scanned in I will send it on. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
