Re: 20 weeks with PPROM + previaFrom: fuf@gulf.netMon Jul 1 23:06:52 1996
and was leaning towards induction, until the ultrasound >revealed the previa. > >If she wanted termination for PPROM at 20 weeks, would anybody do a >c/s (essentially a hysterotomy) to deliver the baby? Thanks in advance. > I would recommend induction with either misoprostol 100 to 200 mg vaginally every 6 hrs or use high-dose oxytocin as is used in the U.A.B. protocol( I dont have the reference at home with me).Once the placenta separates, labor will progress rapidly, in most cases. As a third alternative, I would consider a D&E under ultrasound guidance if experienced in the procedure. High leaks will occasionally seal off. Is the amniotic fluid decreased? Followup would be most interesting. Gary Gary E. Kleinman, MD Perinatologist/Geneticist University of FL/Pensacola 5045 Carpenter Creek Drive Pensacola, FL 32503 904 484-9400

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
