Agree with all you have said. Unfortunately, the idea of a physician owned HMO is no better than a commercial product in the long run. I think when we do this, we only become our own enemy. In order to remain competitive, we will have to take on the same tactics they now employ. While there is waste in medicine to be sure, I feel the amount of waste left to be cut is more myth than reality.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
