I don't know of any references, and often women on 'good' doses of MgSO4 have catheters in to measure output. But my impression is that MgSO4 paralyzes everything, including intestines. It's not uncommon for these women to blow up like balloons because bowel motility goes to near zero, depending upon the Mg++ level. It's a VERY VERY uncomfortable drug for the patient... Joe P

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
