Re: Continuous OCP's

I use continous BCP's in some of my patients with endometriosis, especially the younger teenagers. This helps prevent the problem with osteoporisis on the GNRH agonists. The main problem is breakthrough bleeding that does not repond to Estrogen Rx. There is one more consideration about prescibing continious BCP's to patients that is not medical in nature. That is MCO's will only allow a refill of BCP's once every four weeks (unless a note saying for treatment of endometriosis) They way I get around this is to give the patient 2 months worth of samples to help tide them over to the next visit. Interesting? Myer

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
