BREECH DELIVERIES AND LITIGATION

POGO the cartoon character many years ago had a saying: "WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND HE IS US." The lawyers would never have a cause of action if they could not find a "expert" to be critical of the management of the case they are handling. I do not want to start naming names of plaintiff's experts on this international list, but some of the names I have seen are surprising. One need only to go through the advertisements in the legal journals so see how many physicians are begging to be named as experts in litigation. There are also legal services that solicit panels of doctors to act as experts for the plaintiff. There are of course "fees" included in this soliciataion. To quote Dr. Gerbie on an off handed remark, " Nothing has done as much to set the standard of medical care as the contingency fee in the legal profession." Maybe I should make it another of Reiner's Rules in Ob-Gyn.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
