$10,000 fine for an honest coding error!From: D. G. Huffman (perinatl@slip.net)Sat Jun 1 23:29:35 1996
This is from another mailing list, but it might be of interest to those on this list. It is from a Wall Street Journal article from this past Thursday, 5/30/96. According to the article, federal legislation that has passed both the house and the senate would give a $10,000 fine for just making an honest mistake in coding a diagnosis or procedure. You really need to pull up the original article and read it in its entirity (feel free to e-mail me at perinatl@slip.net if you cannot find a copy). I would recommend that you read it then write and call your senator and congressman. Dean Huffman perinatl@slip.net *****************************************

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
