The diode lasers have wave lengths between 800 and 950 . I've used the one made by Diomed. This wavelength is delivered by a quartz fiber. It has a tissue action that is between a CO2 and Yag. It cuts failry well and does have better coag than the CO2. One of the unfortunate attributes is that the energy is pulsed and under lower powers it is a little bit more difficult to predict. Most units are 25 watts, 25 lbs in weight for about $25,000. The other nice attribute is that there is no Gas or Water. It works on diode circuits which can easily be replaced. For a trouble free laser you can't beat it. It's portability makes it also desireable. Joe Feste, M.D. joefeste@AOL.com Columbia Woman's Hospital of Texas 7750 fannin Houston, Texas 77054

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
