Re: ankylosing spondylitis and ...From: rossmann@MEM.po.comThu May 23 19:50:12 1996
I found very interesting your experience with smoking cessation counseling and I think smokers can never get to much of it . Problem is it takes so much time during the busy office hours. I would like to know what code number you use for the counseling and what is your experience with reimbursement from medicaid, medicare and private insurance. I am counseling every smoker when I see them first time in the office and later if they are cooperating and want to stop smoking, however we do not bill specially for this, it is part of the regular visit. Mostly it is frustrating to try to help this losers addicted to legal or illegal drugs and only somebody completely disgusted with the morally corrupt present system get involved. I have done survey at what age my patients started smoking and I found that 95% started smoking before age of 18 and so it was illegal. Very rarely somebody starts smoking in later age. I would say that almost all nicotine addicts became illegally addicted and who supplied them with the device should be held responsible. There should be 300 000 murder trials every year for all smokers that die from this addiction but this is only my wishful thinking. Some people may say that this is not subject for OB-GYN list but I disagree. If you help patient stop smoking you will do more for her longevity, quality of life and health than anything else. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
