Re: Tubal Ligation RegretFrom: DoctorJoe@aol.comMon May 20 08:54:04 1996
<<Does anyone know the factors associated with regretting tubal sterilization..>> I reviewed this a "few" years ago for a piece in the OBGYN Clinics of North America (Pastorek JG, White CA. Surgical sterilization at the time of cesarean delivery. Obstet Gynecol Clin N Am 15(4): 771, 1988). The things that I found in the literature included young age, unhappy marriage, and financial problems. Specific references WAY BACK THEN were: 1) Divers WA. Characteristics of women requesting reversal of sterilization. Fertil Steril 41: 233, 1984. 2) Gomel V. Profile of women requesting reversal of sterilization. Fertil Steril 30: 39, 1978. 3) Leader A, Galan N, George R, et al. A comparison of definable traits in women requesting reversal of sterilization and women satisfied with sterilization. Am J Obstet Gynecol 145: 198, 1983. I haven't looked at this lately, so I don't know of any more recent articles. ************************************************* doctorjoe@aol.com "All things are connected. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
