Re: glove use in L&DFrom: Danny Tucker (danny.tucker@dial.pipex.com)Sat May 18 09:48:12 1996
I put this to one of our research midwives & her reply is below: 1. Our current practise is to use sterile gloves but we do not use any solution to swab the vulva fist (a recent change following internal audit and data gathered via ob-gyn-l) 2. There is very little research on the whole subject of gloves or solutions for vulval prep for VE. 3. yeah, yeah! 4. Do some research! Or take advice from infection control with a view to risk management. We use sterile gloves if there is ROM or not. Hope this is useful, Regards, Carol Newton Research Midwife Nottingham City Hospital, UK

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
