Gary, I hate to sound redundant but are you sure she is pregnant? Ceredase has some Beta HCG activity left over from the process since it is isolated from placentas. Some women have oligomenorrhea with a HCG titer after an infusion. I would confirm, if you already have not done so, with an ultrasound that a pregnacy is present. As far as the replacement enzyme therapy goes, you may have enough residual to "hang around" to keep her symptom free for the rest of the gestation. What are the Hematologist rush to put her back on protocol. As far as I know, there is no protocol set up for gestational therapy. Also, have you been able to cousel the parents re Gaucher and the risks to this child (ie is the father a carrier)? I will talk with our Gaucher Center people tomorrow to see if they have any further information since it's been three months since my last discussion re this topic. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
