Ceredase and pregnancyFrom: Gary Kleinman (fuf@gulf.net)Tue May 14 13:11:52 1996
Please advise 26 year old g2p0 with type I (non-neuronopathic) Gaucher's disease. Pt on Ceredase (enzyme replacement) for 4 years with good results. Pt had throbocytopenia, anemia and bone pain when not on medicine. She is now 7.5 weeks post LMP and has not taken any Ceredase during pregnancy. Literature search came up negative for this therapy during pregnancy. We have a call into Genzyme Corp. to ask if they have data. I suspect that they might be very cautious with this agent durng pregnancy because of liability risks. Hematologist wants to start it in a little more than a month (after the 1st trimester). Would anyone prescribe this agent during pregnancy? Thank you for your advice. gary

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
