Re: Hepatitis C & AmnioFrom: ATB28@aol.comMon May 13 06:52:24 1996
An indication for genetic amniocentesis is an indication for genetic amniocentesis; however, the counseling for this (and related infectious issues) complicates adequate informed consent. In our own experience, few women who are HIV positive and who have valid indications opt for testing although this may well represent a (self) selection bias. Hopefully the expanded acception of early HIV screening, and subsequent AZT therapy, will allow us to more prudently examine this important question by prospective methods other than our own biased experiences. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
