Re: Chilliwack Journal Club - re Active Management of LabourFrom: Darach Corcoran (djdc@iol.ie)Sun May 5 06:18:07 1996
Neglected, in my view, is the powerful effect of >the experienced midwives who in Dublin never left the patient. O'Driscoll >has always minimized this factor. I would not agree that O'Driscoll ever under-estimated the importance of one-to-one midwifery. The edition of "Clinics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology" on AML edited by O'Driscoll and Meagher has several sections devoted to the enormous role of the midwife in management. Where we have always had the problem is in impressing on our administrators and nurse managers that this is good health economics. The views of O'Driscoll and indeed the results of his work are probably as valid today as they were 25 years ago. Regards, Darach

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
