Try 1% testosterone in a petrolatum base. Apply daily (usually at bedtime) for two to three months. Then you may be able to decrease the frequency of application. Caution the patient that it may take the 2-3 months before she gets significant symptomatic relief. No significant side effects from the testosterone except an occasional increase in libido.
