Re: There but for the grace of God go I . . .From: DoctorJoe@aol.comTue Apr 30 08:11:07 1996
<<Is there anything anyone can add to console or prepare my friend?>> Depending upon the state (of the union) that he's in, there may be a way he can fortify his position against the opposing attorney by making sure he makes a record which will put the plaintiff's attorney at some risk for being sued for malpractice HIMSELF if he pursues the case too vigorously. Bowel perf is a known consequence of laparoscopy, hopefully he's got well documented informed consent, and he obviously did the right thing to remedy the complication. If the plaintiff's attorney doesn't review the records well and makes a slipshod case up front, you might be able to treaten him a little and make him back off. Just a thought. Joe P.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
