I agree. Patients and their solicitors ( =attorneys ) are only slightly less aggressive in the UK these days.

My second week in my consultant post I was doing a case listed by someone else as "abdo.hyst. for fibroids". I opened her up and found no fibroids, frozen pelvis with bilateral endometriotic ovarian cysts to umbilicus. Got one ovary out, but caught one ureter with right ovary. Realised the problem, called our urologist. He wasn't too impressed with the new gynaecologist - reasonably assumed all my hysterectomies were like this one ! He fixed things up and I abandoned the hysterectomy to preserve the lower ureters and bladder.

I rang her husband from the surgeons' room, told him there was a problem I needed to speak to him about. They both thought I gave an excellent service and she told all her friends how kind I'd been !

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
