Posture is so important. If he acts like he screwed up, that's what will be perceived. Can perception be changed? Absolutely. He needs to act like this doesn't phase him a bit. Be cool, calm, and collected but stay in close touch with the patient every day no matter how tough it is...of course if a suit IS filed, then stay away.

Also have your friend put it into perspective. No one has died and no disaster occurred. If a suit is filed, then let the attorneys worry about it (easy to say), but truly the system is out of control so there's little you can add to a good defense attorney's strategy except POSTURE. This isn't a million dollar case anyway, so no sweat. This is just the American version of gladiators fighting in Roman times. Maybe more like lions and Christians eh?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
