clomid and single shot pergonal for first line obgyn'sFrom: hribot@obdoc.is.netSat Apr 27 11:27:08 1996
<I would like to hear from reproductive docs or anyone else using a protocol of clomid 100mgs day 3-7 or 5-9 in conjunction with one single dose of pergoanl.> Mark: I have been using Pergonal/Profasi/WIUI for a few years with decent results, and I can tell you ovarian hyperstimulation is very rare if you follow carefully the serum estradiol levels and follicular diameters, and withhold the HCG if you overshoot. My threshold has gone up considerably, and I will sometimes push the E2 levels to the 2500+ range if the follicles still haven't reached 20-22 mm. You always have available iv albumin (you can give 25-50 grams depending on the pt's size) as prophylaxis. I would dare to say that your risk of ovarian hyperstimulation is extremely low with the clomid/single dose pergonal protocol. Be careful with some of the polycystic ovary pts who may be very sensitive to gonadotropins. Good luck! Hugo In private collaborative CNM-MD practice Cartersville, GA
