Could it be that our anesthetists choice of agents and dosage is what's responsible for our lack of a problem ( and thus my ignorance obout the issue)?

Doug, Our anesthesia department is currently conducting a study on all epidurals in labor - looking at several aspects including fever. It will be interesting to see if anything shows. The study will last several months. Most of our MDAs use 0.125% bupivicaine with 1-3 vials of sufentanil in a continuous drip. The rate varies per patient and MDA, but most patients get good pain relief without complete motor blockade.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
