I have seen the issue about macrossomya for quite a bit on the last few days, but I have not seen anybody saying that this decision is made during the labor and according to the labor chart. All of us have seen babies with >4500g with normal vaginal delivery.

Try to induce a a macrossomic at 38 weeks, frights me for two reasons: 1. If the patient is diabetic, I need to assess fetal lung maturity before it, otherwise I would go serious problem.

2. The bishop index is something that we do a lot, so I do not have any intention to induce labor with a disfavourable cervix, otherwise I will pretend that i tried, but things did not work.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
