I'm posting this to the group because it is the most common imaginable issue to come over my desk and I would like to glean your opinions.

PS - For the sake of argument, lets assume the triple test is overwhelmingly NORMAL.

I don't know what the statistics are regarding the risks of amnio at the present time since it has been 11 years since I had mine. At the time that I had it done, the risks were about 1% of having a miscarriage. I was only 32 years old, but I already had an autistic child, so we were very concerned about genetic defects. If you decide to go through with the test, I would recommend that you have a doctor do it who does them all the time, not just once in a while. The risks go down when using a very experienced practitioner. My OB sent me to someone who specialized in amnio.

Good luck.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
