To the list... I can't recall any discussions recently about induction of labor for suspected fetal macrosomia. Around these parts, a large number of women get induced for suspected fetal weight (by ultrasound) of 4000 grams or greater. Of course, given the 10-15% variability of ultrasound in guessing fetal weight, many of these babies weigh less, or, occasionally, more than 4000 g. I am curious what listmembers feel the cutoff weight is for inducing for suspected macrosomia (no other indication for induction), and what your line of thinking is on this subject. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
