I have to agree. Steve Carlin, an MFM here in Orlando, researched this with one of his residents a few years ago, And I think presented it at a regional ACOG meeting. They came up with the same results: epidural increased the success rate. I don't know if their results were published, but I suspect they were. I routinely offer epidurals to patients having versions, and find them VERY helpful. I have heard, however, that some people are reluctant to use them in patients with prior uterine scars. I don't feel a prior C/S is a contraindication to version under epidural, and a prior c/s incision does not alter my management of version patients. I agree with you, versions are bound to hurt, whether you have a c/s incision or not!

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
