Re: Acyclovir and HERPES in pregnancyFrom: DoctorJoe@aol.comWed Apr 10 18:32:32 1996
<<Anecdotally, I would confess to members of this list that for the longest time I thought I had Herpes Simplex, getting genital lesions under stress, however, after a thorough work-up looking at every possible antibody by Roche, whatever I have, it ain't herpes. That is perhaps why it never appears to respond to acyclovir... >> What about zoster? Could you have had SHINGLES instead of HSV? I've seen some of that. And it needs higher levels of acyclovir to make any difference. I don't know what antibodies you had in your work-up, but if you didn't try VZV, you should next time. Joe P.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
