Recurrent herpes infection in a 10 week pregnant womanFrom: Pierre Deshaies (pdeshaies@upc.qc.ca)Fri Apr 5 20:30:45 1996
Good evening everybody, I would appreciate an up-to-date information and opinion about treatment and follow up for one of my patients. She is a 35 years old with a 9 4/7 weeks pregnancy with past history of recurrent genital herpes (once a month or a 1 1/2 month) for the past five years. She developed a more severe than usual acute episode of genital herpes two days ago. She is not curently on any medication. Q: What is the risk of fetal infection? and of congenital malformation or other complication ? What would you suggest for treatment other than topical acyclovir? Any other suggestion regarding follow up of the pregnancy vs possible fetal malformations? Looking forward to hear from you.
