I believe a large part of this is false patient education by media and friends. Frequently, after offering hysteroscopic resections and ablation, patients are adamant regarding a hysterectomy. They seem to have some suspicion regarding hysteroscopic procedures and are reticent when few practitioners are performing this procedure in my area of Minnesota. Overall, I applaud efforts at public education, but frequently find myself arguing case management with the patient based on limited information from media sources.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
