The time table of events with this pain beginning with the return of the patient's spouse could be significant. Maybe this has a psychological basis or a reason for the patient to avoid the spouse-just a thought. I would be very careful about using EtOH in this area. Using a local anesthetic at the "trigger" point might help differentiate.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit.
