Re: RE HMOs and GTTsFrom: PDBurstein@aol.comSun Mar 31 13:03:36 1996
Screen with an O'Sullivan-one hour glucose load, unrelated to meals. If abnormal, then do a 3 hour GTT. There are certainly false positive tests, but a GTT should not be the first screening procedure. The post last week stated that an HMO was not supportive of routine screening, i.e. O'Sullivan. No one in our area advocates routine screening with 3H GTTs. Paul D. Burstein, MD FACOG Clinical Assoc. Professor Univ. of Wisconsin Milwaukee Clinical Campus

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
