Terbutaline shortage

Dear List members:

I was just informed today that there is a shortage of injectable terbutaline now. Apparently, the manufacturer is stating that there will not be any available until after May, 1996. All of the injectable terbutaline at my primary hospital is located in L&D, and we have no other sources in the city. I realize that we can use Yutopar and MgSO4 for preterm labor, but what about other choices for "intrauterine resuscitation" of a bradycardic fetus? Any other options?

Patrick

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
