bilateral ovarian cystsFrom: Robert Brenner (robbrenner@earthlink.net)Wed Mar 27 09:57:11 1996

Sounds like bilateral ovarian cystadenomas or possibly dermoids. It's hard to imagine bilateral functional ovarian cysts in the absence of HCG elevation or gonadotropin stimulation. If the CA 125 is elevated, then it most likely is serous in origin. Could also be endometriomas. Either way she needs surgery.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
