Back pain and pregnancyFrom: Leon A. Le Leu (lleleu@medeserv.com.au)Tue Mar 26 19:04:50 1996
A few days ago I put on the list a query about patterns of back pain during pregnancy. I was particularly interested in the type of back pain that goes away during the pregnancy since I have been dealing with a patient whose back pain, present for many months before, disappeared at six months into the pregnancy and reappeared, as before, eight weeks post-partum. Now I received only one reply about this but I wonder if I could just get a brief comment. Is such a pattern of back pain: (1) Related to hormonal changes; (2) Related to changing centre of gravity due to pregnancy; (3) Related to both hormonal and centre of gravity changes. Has anyone come across this particular pattern? Usually back pain worsens or originates during pregnancy. Dr Leon a. Le Leu Senior Specialist Woden Valley Hospital Canberra A.C.T. Australia
